PowerScore GMAT course Overview

PowerScore provides one-on-one GMAT instructions online, in-person, or telephone for $150/hr or $625 for 5 hours. You can also stream the company’s 40-hour on-demand GMAT course for $495.

Mr. Killoran and his team use lessons, lectures, and forums just like in a traditional classroom to teach the concepts of the GMAT exam to their students. They focus on the math, verbal, sentence correction, and critical reasoning part of the exam.

PowerScore OnDemand GMAT Course

The PowerScore GMAT OnDemand Course includes more than 40 hours of GMAT lectures delivered by PowerScore’s course developer and senior instructor, Jon Denning. The 40 hours are split into ten lessons, each providing over 3 hours of discussions of the GMAT concepts plus question analysis.

This program is a little pricey, but it will assist you in performing well on the GMAT, particularly if you have forgotten the basic math and comprehension skills.

It’s a superb targeted prep that mimics test questions accurately and offers an organized strategy to practice. Furthermore, the professors are top-notch in all of the subjects they specialize in:

Standout features

  •  40+ hours of OnDemand GMAT instructions
  • Top 1% GMAT instructors

PowerScore GMAT Tutoring

The PowerScore OnDemand course is a fantastic starting point for disciplined practice, but if you want even more structure in your prep, you can work with a teacher one-on-one.

A PowerScore 99th percentile GMAT instructor will work with you directly to develop a study plan, take you through the lessons, break down the concepts you have difficulty grasping, review your work, provide feedback and test-taking strategies. Private GMAT tutoring costs $150/hr (unlimited) or $625 for 5 hours.

The most remarkable element is that the teachers sometimes stay online for an extra half an hour to answer more questions, even though they are aware that they aren’t required to do that because they won’t be reimbursed for extra labor.

PowerScore GMAT Books

The OnDemand Course provides a comprehensive GMAT coursebook and the Official Guide for GMAT Review.

The coursebook has content spanning 30 different commonly-examined GMAT topics. It’s what the teachers use in the ten lessons.

You’ll receive GMAT Math materials that analyze a wide range of model question structures and provide various effective problem-solving methods, including the most in-depth analysis of Data Sufficiency known; this will enable you to achieve your desired Quant score.

The GMAT Verbal elements in the coursebook will teach you how to dissect complicated logic, navigate through standard grammatical errors, digest heavy academic passages, and create, organize and develop your essays well to ensure you’re prepared for Analytical Writing and Verbal.

The Official Guide for GMAT Review.

The Official Guide for GMAT Review contains the GMAC official practice exam to test yourself and figure out your strengths and weaknesses hence where to focus your preps more.

Apart from the coursebook and the Official Guide for GMAT Review, the team at PowerScore has also published highly reviewed GMAT books that you can get for $34.98. These are:

The PowerScore GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible

This book promises to improve your accuracy and speed, allowing you to try most of the problems in the exam.  It will teach you how to dissect GMAT arguments, identify types of GMAT questions, and differentiate between correct and incorrect responses.

The PowerScore GMAT Reading Comprehension Bible

This book offers a definitive guide to the GMAT Reading Comprehension section. It includes readings, quizzes, concept drills, and explanations. You will discover how to deconstruct and answer the GMAT Reading Comprehension questions.

The PowerScore GMAT Sentence Correction Bible

The PowerScore GMAT Sentence Correction Bible is the most in-depth guide for the GMAT Sentence Correction section.

The book includes a detailed methodology for approaching Sentence Correction questions, such as spotting errors in words and phrases, identifying and eliminating potential errors, and applying the elimination process to answer problems fast.

Pros of PowerScore 👍

Some of the best aspects of PowerScore GMAT prep include:

✅ 1. Selection of Services

PowerScore offers a variety of GMAT courses; just pick what meets their learning style and academic needs.

You can purchase a 100 % OnDemand course for $495. It is the ideal solution for students with demanding schedules, time constraints, or those who simply want the benefits of a comprehensive course without having to commute to a class location. It’s available worldwide, and you’ll get access to an online student center containing links to practice tests and supplemental resources.

Apart from that, you can opt for one-on-one GMAT instructions via the telephone, in-person or online.

The company also test prep books free or at a premium and admissions consulting with the help of open and honest B-school grads and Admissions Experts.

✅ 2. Free Help

PowerScore offers a large selection of free information for the GMAT. On their website, you’ll get sections covering the basics of GMAT, such as how to sign up for the GMAT, how the test is scored, D-day tips, and content for each section of the test.

You will also get testing and tracking services such as free GMAT prep software and free chapters of the Critical Reasoning Bible and Sentence Correction Bible. The company also provides admissions help.

✅ 3. Customer Assistance

PowerScore places emphasis on excellent customer service. Students interested in their course can use the live chat feature on their website, send electronic mails, or call the customer desk. The company website is also simple to understand and use.

PowerScore GMAT users can communicate with professors, take part in discussion boards, send emails, or call the hotline number to get help with any question concerning the GMAT.

✅ 4. Cheap Tutoring Sessions

While other GMAT prep companies have their tutoring services starting at $200-$300 per hour, PowerScore tutoring services cost $150/hr. That’s one of the lowest price rates, only bested by Magoosh, which charges $119.75/hr for its GMAT tutoring services.

Cons of PowerScore GMAT 👎

❌ 5. Pricey OnDemand GMAT

PowerScore’s OnDemand course packages aren’t exactly cheap. Although not the most expensive GMAT online courses, they are still more expensive than other courses on the market.

Their prices vary greatly depending on the selected package. For example, full-length GMAT courses are $995, the on-demand course is $495, and the accelerated course is $395.

❌ 6. No Score Improvement Guarantee

Prepping for GMAT is not cheap; knowing that a course will improve your score helps you feel like you are not wasting time and money. Most GMAT courses provide score enhancement assurances to entice students to buy.

Unfortunately, PowerScore GMAT doesn’t offer any such promises. If you want a sure thing, consider Veritas, Magoosh, Princeton Review, or the Economist GMAT; these have some of the highest score improvement guarantees.

❌ 7. No Money-Back Guarantees

With the exception of broken products, PowerScore maintains a no-refund and no-return policy. Many other GMAT prep companies provide money-back guarantees as well as score improvement guarantees. PowerScore GMAT users that are dissatisfied will not obtain a refund.

Who is PowerScore GMAT Suitable For? 🤔

Anyone can use PowerScore GMAT to prep for their exam. They have various services in place, so you just have to select what matches your lesson requirements. Self-driven students can use the OnDemand course; it combines lessons, books, assignments, and practice tests into a structured GMAT curriculum that you can study at your own pace and time.

If you want specialized GMAT instructions, tutoring is available too. Finally, the company’s website has a selection of free resources for the GMAT for students who want supplemental materials free of charge.

Wrap Up 🎁

PowerScore GMAT is a fantastic option for many GMAT students. They provide good customer service and encourage learners to ask questions. Their private coaching is at par with other GMAT companies in the market and may be a decent alternative. PowerScore also provides a wealth of useful free information.

On the other hand, learners looking to improve their GMAT score by a set number of points may want to look for a different course that offers guarantees. You can check our course-by-course comparison chart to find out how PowerScore GMAT stacks against other GMAT courses.
